Tell us a bit about yourself
My name is Lauren, and I live in Singapore. I’m currently studying in school, while also finding the time to play sports and run my small business! Being quite an introvert, I like to spend time at home. That being said, I also love to have fun with friends and family.
What made you start your company?
Since I was small, I’ve always enjoyed creating things by hand, whether it be tons of rainbow loom bracelets and charms, sort-of-working mini vending machines, heaps of slime, or (questionable) paintings, it has always brought so much joy…and sometimes fits of frustration. The simple yet thrilling idea of making things—anything really—is what inspires me the most. That is the very seed that my business was built upon. That one initial spurt of excitement about being an entrepreneur spiralled into plenty of thinking and researching time. Eventually, I figured out the amount of water and sunlight my little seed needed to grow its roots and start sprouting. Bath bombs—this was the product I chose to make and sell. No other particular reason than that it’s fairly easy to craft from scratch, relatively popular among my target audience, and reasonably cheap to invest in. With a product idea, support from family, and a great deal of determination and anticipation, I set out to launch my very own business!
Tell me about your product and brand?
My brand name, Bain de Mousse or baindemousse.sg on Instagram, is born from the French translation of “bubble bath.” Although it’s not very easy for people to remember, lest pronounce, I find it an essential part of my identity reflecting on my brand’s identity. My plans for the brand aesthetic were pretty and colourful, not too dainty but not too bold. I only sell handmade bath bombs as of writing this, though I am soon preparing to introduce shower bombs into my line! I try to use locally sourced ingredients in my products, with natural, skin-loving attributes. Along with that, I strive to take care of our precious environment, hence the eco-friendly packaging alternatives I use. I treat every order as a gift, which is why I love to package them so much, trying to make each one special for the customer!
