Tell us a bit about yourself

I am Zeny Capoquian a 4th year college student, taking up Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. I am 21 years old, from the Philippines. My passion is into handmade crafts, that is why I am into crocheting and as of now learning the in-depth of knitting.

What made you start your company?

At first, when I started to crochet my aim was not to have my own brand or company. I learned crocheting way back when I was in elementary because we have the subject for that wherein you can learn how to sew etc., but I only knew the basics. That is why when the pandemic started and the lockdown happened, I had the urge to start my crochet journey. It really helped my mental health, I feel more relaxed and it kept me away from any social media toxicity. I watched a lot of youtube videos, read blogs, and understood patterns. For the first few months, I crochet small projects like facial scrubs, pouches, water bottle holders, scrunchies, and shawls. Then into wearables.

 Tell me about your products?

I crochet different types of clothing, I also apply for pattern testing for other designers. I highly value handmade crafts, especially in fashion, since the clothing  now is fast-paced. I support sustainable, and slow-fashion.

What struggles have you faced when getting into the industry?

As for my experience, the number one struggle I faced was the pricing point of my products. When I started, I did not know how to price my products and little did I know that the I’ve sold it way too low compared now that I knew how to compute the materials, product cost, and my labor. Also, product photoshoots, and explaining to the customer why it is pricey. As for my experience, the number one struggle I faced was the pricing point of my products. How did you get over them?

I joined the crochet community in social media, like group pages, the crochet community is very helpful to give insights and suggestions on how to compute, there was even an application to compute the prices for the products. Changing my target market, I assess what audience I should engage with, and also learn other ways on product photoshoots, like a short tutorial on tiktok, and pinterest peg

Is any advice for others just getting started?

Do not hesitate to improve your skills, be open for any critiques, and highly value the quality of your handmade.
